GDPR & You

Are your Printers and Photocopiers GDPR compliant?

GDPR – The General Data Protection Regulation will replace the current Data Protection Act 1998 which will come into force on the 25th May 2018.
Companies that fail to comply could be fined up to €20 million or 4% of their global turnover (whichever is greater) per incident.

Who will it affect:

GDPR will affect any organisations that obtain and store personal data; including names, photos, health records, bank details, social media details etc.

As a general rule, it’s best to assume that if a person can be identified from the information you have about them, i.e. name, telephone number, address, IP address etc., then it can be classed as personal data under GDPR.

Data Storage & You:

Networked Printers and MFP’s store data which may remain in the memory of your device until they are overwritten by new jobs.

Cantec (Galway Ltd.) takes the protection of customer data very serious. Our systems are designed to safeguard your data and provide organisations with ways to secure print, copy and scan.

Applications such as the UTAX Data Security Kit and Ineo SECURE ensures the protection of your confidential information. They can overwrite and encrypt your copying, scanning and printing data, even before they are saved to the hard drive. Plus, the memory area for the output data is automatically deleted so that the data cannot be restored.

By offering central tracking of user activities and convenient definition of user access rules, your business security requirements with its combination of print security, device access control and document security capabilities are answered.
